Site status check
After you report a malicious site, the obvious question is whether anything happened. This check looks at the two things that can be measured from outside: does the domain still resolve to an address, and does anything still answer on it.
How this works
- The domain is resolved over DNS. If it no longer resolves, nothing is being served under that name at all.
- If it resolves, both https:// and http:// are requested once and the response status is reported, including any redirect.
- A site that answers is not necessarily still malicious, and a site that does not answer may return later. This is a snapshot, not a verdict.
- The check is limited to 10 requests per hour per visitor.
